After 2 months of blood, sweat, and some what of tears, Ranger Challenge is finally over dammit! I honestly cannot believe how I got through it. From waking up at basically the ass-crack of dawn to finally receiving our 2nd place trophy at midnight, honestly it was NOT worth it. Now don't get me wrong I loved working out hard every morning because Im a fighter at heart...eh...thats just the thing, I AM a fighter which means when I'm in the cage its only me fighting. Its not a 3 on 3 match, no team huddles, no "We're all in this together". Summing it all up there is no I in "Team" and cage fighting consists of me, myself and I.
While I was there competing with my "team" I felt so out of place. Like I actually didn't belong there. Mainly because I was the only freshmen on the team. I was fresh out of high school and I had no military experience what so ever. So it seemed like my fellow team mates knew what they were doing since they were 200's and 300's. Though we had our captain who was obviously our overseer and the person in charge(duh), I was the strength of the team. (thank you MMA training).
I'd rather not tell the tale of what happened during Ranger Challenge. Not that it induces painful thoughts (because it doesn't...) Instead, its rather bitter sweet. Like the artificial sweetener Sweet'N Low. Next time you go to a restaurant sprinkle some of that in your tongue and then you'll know how I feel. Not that it matters anyway.
The real fun begins.....
After the pilgrimage from Ft. Knox, I came home to do some laundry then I recieved a text message saying that I was invited to the "After Ranger Challenge Party". Woe to me for not just staying home for then night. I insisted that I must leave for I had "class" in the morning....and the parents fell for it. Woe to me again for lying. I should of gone to sleep. Ironically I didn't want to go. I texted a friend saying I'm going but I wasn't going to "drink". Woe, a third time for lying to myself. The sequence of events was even better. As I walked to the meeting point where my fellow cadets were waiting. I was thinking of bailing. Woe, to me for not doing that. As we walked closer to the "party house" I could hear the music blaring. My stomach churned just a little. When we walked up to the porch my stomach just went inside out. Woe for the last time for not paying attention to the gut feeling...the first two came inside and EVERYONE blared their HAY's! HO's! WOOO's and WHOO's! Then I finally came in....I was immediately picked up by one of the macho cadets and literally twirled in the air. After that event I just sat down on the nearest rocking chair.....After another series of events happened, I was handed a helmet full of beer. And told to drink it. ALL. Sarah Toyoda pretty much died there. I drank it. ALL of it. Threw the helmet down and asked for more. I so I drank some hard liquor for the next 45 minutes and I was done for. The saddest part was as I chugged that helmet full of beer, I saw my reflection in the beer. Is this what my mother raised me to be? From that point I pretty much don't know what the hell happened but everyone seemed to of had fun.....laughing at me.
Luckily, a good friend came and took care of me. Even though I had no idea what was going on or how she came and got me. All I can say is thank God for her. Cause if I stayed at that hell hole any longer I would of gotten violent. She seemed to have her share of fun with my drunkenness, because frankly, I was out of it and it amused her.
Ha! The next day. I don't even want to say. Only that its a Monday...one day.
